“Well today is my gym birthday, one year ago today I joined the gym feeling miserable and fat! One year on I’ve lost five and a half stone and feel fab and much stronger than before. Big thank you to all the gym instructors and lovely friends I’ve made along the way.”
Sarah Atkinson, 5th Jan 2015, i-motion Gym Member.
At i-motion we believe high quality, state of the art gyms should be available to everyone. When we set out to create our first gym the sole concept was to “redefine affordable fitness” with the underlying ambition to help people to realise their personal goals. These goals could be physical or mental wellbeing. Sarah Atkinson encompasses this ambition, through her own hard work, dedication and determination she has achieved just that, physical and mental wellbeing.
If you are a member of a gym you will understand the benefits that can be gained, that flatter stomach, weight loss, strength and agility. You will also understand that there is a social and mental wellbeing aspect to be gained, for some it is a means of socialising, catching up with friends or venting the days frustrations. It can also be the feeling of reaching that goal, that target, the next step. The benefits are ongoing.
“Going to a gym teaches us if you want something you have to EARN it…”
One important benefit is that it teaches us if we want something we have to EARN it. In a short interview Sarah reveals that she has learnt just that…
How did you feel before: “miserable, uncomfortable I didn’t like buying clothes and I didn’t like having photos taken or seeing photos of myself.
How do you feel now: “stronger, fitter I love buying new clothes and feel comfortable having pictures taken and seeing them. “
How did i-motion help? “My Brother lost 3st with i-motion this really inspired me, when I joined I was given everything I needed to reach my goals: support, equipment, classes, advice and much more. The rest was up to me. I didn’t realise it at the time but I would then start to think where I wanted to be and put the hours in, it was hard, there were times I didn’t want to do it but ultimately I got there. When I needed a lift or motivation my new friends and instructors at the gym got me there.. I feel so fulfilled as a result.”
Future goals with i-motion: My goals are smaller now but still important I want to lose ½ a stone do an unassisted pull up.
Sarah is a credit to herself, her drive and determination has been incredible, from all at i-motion we would like to say a massive well done. You wanted something and you most certainly earned it.
