We all know how hard it can be to motivate ourselves, especially as daylight starts to dwindle, temperatures drop and the rain starts to come down! When we actually make it to the gym it can then be hard to push yourself to work harder, to work to the next level and capitalise on our time there.
Sound familiar? You might want to increase your class-training regime.
Why would this be good for me we hear you ask? Well…
The popularity for group training has risen dramatically since the psychedelic Lycra days of Mr. Motivator! Part of the reason is the wide range of sessions now available, from Yoga to Body Combat you can pit yourself, or with people, of all abilities, ages and backgrounds. It is interesting for both the body and mind and it helps us to engage in what is happening. Over a period of time we even build up friendships and add social elements to the gym. This combats that motivation we talked about earlier.
When we train with others we are far more likely to push ourselves harder. Whether it’s because we are in a supportive environment where we are being encouraged to go harder or because the instructor has set-up a more competitive element to the class. You definitely leave less in the tank and more on the gym floor!
So what are the reasons behind people not attending classes?
One of the main reasons is simply because an individual has a set routine and is comfortable pushing themselves. They may be working with a Personal Trainer and have no choice but to go hard!
For some people classes can seem intimidating. They needn’t be, even though those instructors shout to encourage, they all ultimately want everyone to succeed and enjoy their class. They are soft really, honest!
We hope you enjoy one of our 380+ classes a month. If you don’t find they work for you then please speak to a PT and they may be able to focus your training and help you move forward. Most of all, we hope you enjoy your gym time.
